OCTOBER 2025 NEWSLETTER
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year and the PD newsletters!
Let's explore themes around resilience!
TRICKS OR TREATS
With one almost 1 month underway, how do you build up your stamina?
Get to know your fellow K-12 interpreters who have shared their
tricks and the treats of working in the classroom!
AVOID GETTING BURIEd
Interpreting into English — especially in educational settings — can feel overwhelming. The workshop, "Understanding the Message" will provide strategies for interpreting for meaning, helping you decide what to convey and what can be left out.

🧑🏫Instructor: Jennifer Francisco
 Date: October 25, 2025
Time: 10 AM–1 PM ET
Cost: $35 (with 0.3 PS CEUs) | $20 (no CEUs)
FILL YOUR BUCKET
K–12 interpreters handle all kinds of topics every day, some of them really tricky. On top of that, they’re also part of the school team, with responsibilities that don’t stop when classes do.
C Wood is offering a K-12 specific series to share practical conversations about all of this and tips on interpreting the following topics:
🎹= Music 10/15
🌍 = Languages 11/6
⛑= Emergency Drills 11/18
📝= Testing 12/3
Check out the flyer for details on times, CEUs, pricing and registration information!
Are you struggling with Chemistry - terminology, classifiers, how does that look in ASL???
This resource is highly recommended by fellow K-12er Kristy Steiner:
Signplaying Asynchronous Courses
-Chemistry Terminology ($15) 0.3 PS CEUs
-Interpreting Chemistry into ASL ($20) 0.3 PS CEUs
WOULD YOU RATHER?
Fellow K-12er, Gina Maresca, has experienced a hilarious daily tradition in one of the classrooms she works in.
The simple game of "Would you Rather?"
We're taking to the Instagram polls to gauge your take on common
K-12 interpreting Would YOU rather situations?
PICK ONE?
Jessica Ames is interested in presenting a ShareShop to fellow K-12ers and would love your perspective on a topic you're most interested in learning more about!
