february 2020 newsletter
It's a leap year and the month known for lovey dovey Valentines. Let's use it as a time for advancement and self-care.
The following resources are not a one-stop-shop. They take some effort and time to be fully beneficial. We realize you are BEYOND BUSY!! So maybe consider saving this newsletter and revisiting the activities during Mid-Winter break. OR pace yourself by taking on bits of this throughout the month.
SELF REFLECTION TOOL
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has developed a two-part self-reflection tool specifically for educational interpreters. The first section focuses on skills aligned with the EIPA, while the second incorporates a modified set of standards for teachers, which are relevant to the expectations of educational interpreters. The opinion-based rating scales (from very confident to very uncertain) distinguish this as a self-reflective tool rather than a diagnostic one, but guidance is provided for utilizing the results in a professional development plan.

LET'S GET PHYSICAL,
MENTAL & SPIRITUAL
PHYSICAL: It's 2020 and whether you are struggling with a new year's resolution or you don't make those--maybe you want to be more active? How can a simple physical activity be part of your routine?
MENTAL: As interpreters we, at times, experience extreme stress, mental exhaustion and emotional demand. How often do we just take a minute to breathe?
SPIRITUAL: We take on a lot working as an interpreter, and often our own fulfillment can be pushed to the side. How do you make space for that?
Want something you can do at home, for FREE and take some of those practices into your daily work? Have you tried
Yoga With Adriene on Youtube?
Just under 20mins (before school? on a break? after work?) with SOLID CC!!
